Original G1 Transformers TV Series & Hasbro Empty Original G1 Transformers TV Series & Hasbro

Post by Marlboor WJ Thu Feb 20, 2014 7:45 pm

Found this article from Seibertron.com:

Bring back Gen 1 Transformers
Walt Disney and Hasbro appeal to the nostalgic collector by releasing toy lines such as the Star Wars: The Black Series and reissuing old Star Wars toys. Moreover, Hasbro occasionally releases a Transformers Generation 1 reissue geared toward people who enjoyed Transformer's original line in their childhood. Hasbro could take this a step further and produce an animated (not computer generated) series that picks up where it left off during the second season in 1986 bridging the gap between that time period and the animated classic Transformers: The Movie. An hour long show with a shortened season could conserve on costs. A good working title: Transformers 1980s. Hasbro could also do a spinoff series that centers on post Transformers: The Movie characters such as Headmasters .

If this is true.....this would be awesome!!!  Don't know if Hasbro will see this thru though. dunno

Knowing Hasbro, its unlikely to be on their radar currently, their focused upon TFAE & whatever they got planned for another TV series!

If they did a series that's carries on the G1 TV show, I hope they bring back as many of the ordinal voice actors as they can! As for stories, focus upon a character a ep yet develop a descent plot, but no useless eps of trying to teach the kids about street racing, best way to cover that is to have a short educational thing at the end of eps!

with all the Bayformers out there, Kids wont relate to the cartoon series.
The animation would be updated and not look anything like the G1 we love.
The story plots would be targeted for younger viewers.

In order for it to work at all would be to have the original writers and animators. As well as voice actors. I suggest Cynxibox would be a great fill in for voices.

Cynixbox would be great!! Considering some of the voice actors are either dead or not able to do the voice overs he'd be a good choice.

*conehead crashes throo the wall*

I can't really see any new animated series realistically belling able to come close to the original G1, fact is that when G1 was made, the technology to create CGI was in its infancy, if it even existed. How many of the original cast members are now dead? As far as I know, only Chris Latta would be missing. Bear in mind that Frank Welker and Peter Cullen did a good few voices between them for the G1 toon.

I personally would hate to see a "new" G1 series due to the fact that part of what we all hold dear as TF fans is that G1 created TF as we know it and it should be left well alone

CGI was pretty much in its early days, best example of that era would be the ordinal Tron movie!

very well put Dirge.
A "Rebirth" of a G1 series would possibly ruin G1.
The animation would be different
The voices would be mostly different
The writing would be aimed at a younger audience.
We probably would not relate to it as much as we think we would.
The only thing that even came close IMO was the Animated series.

NOW CLEAN UP THIS MESS YOU MADE FROM SMASHING THROUGH THE WALL!!

Then you might want to look at the Generations lines

Anyway, Galvy has made some clear points in regards to this, but honestly if Hasbro wanted to carry on G1, ditch rebirth and go from just after Optimus came back from the dead, again but its unlikely to happen in the near future and besides, they might try and mimic the movie designs and that would lead to total disaster!

I would like to see Sixshot and the Headmasters get more airtime in a US based series for sure. I felt so much potential was wasted there when it comes to characters like Pounce/Wingspan, Fastlane/Cloudraker, Punch/Counterpunch, Scorponok, Mindwipe, Weirdwolf, Skullcruncher, Apeface, Snapdragon, Fort Max, Brainstorm, Hardhead, Chromedome and Highbrow...just to name a few. I'd also like to see Piranacon and Broadside in an episode instead of just a comic.

*Conehead crashes throo the floor*

This is why I always preferred the comics over the toon, the uk run of comics gave much much more depth to a lot of the characters.

Highbrow literally tearing scorponoks head off
Soundwave as deception leader
The Autobots accepting none other than Megatron as their leader
Galvatron single handedly blowing pirranacon to bits
Skids being much more prominent

I often feel that some of this could have been used in the cartoon, but they never did. To try and start to do it now would be too little too late I think.

I think what you want Dirge is the comics to be adapted into a TV series but with a few changes to bring things into the modern era! I think you might want to rephrase your post a tad, you put an incorrect statement in it!
