Of all the third party toys I've reviewed so far, I've never reviewed anything from FansProject, one of the longest running, beloved, and successful of these companies to date. Let's fix that, shall we?

FansProject's first tinkering with combiners was with the Aerial Team Appendage Add-on kit for Energon/Universe/ROTF Superion. The second was a set of two figures with some extra parts that combined with Energon/Universe/ROTF Bruticus. (and a re-release of sorts of the entire set colored to go with United Bruticus) Just recently, they've completed two combiner teams. One is the Glacialbots who form Glacialord. I'm reviewing the other team, the Motor Squad. They're Stunt-y, they're con-y, and they're all a little loony. I'd recommend staying well away from these guys on the road. But in toy form? We shall see.

I'm breaking this up into five parts. Part 1 was Causality CA-09 Car Crash and CA-10 T-Bone. We've cleared part 2, which was Causality CA-11 Down Force. We're now midway in this quintet of reviews and the last of the cars, part 3: CA-12 Last Chance. Part 4 features CA-13 Diesel and Military Multiplexer kit by himself. Finally, part 5 brings it all together - literally - with the team as a whole and their combined form, Multiplexer. With me so far? Then let's dive in!

With a team of sports cars, (and a truck) one of them was bound to be a Ferrari, right? And in this team, Last Chance is that Ferrari. A Ferrari FXX, specifically. I'd say he's based on G1 Dead End, but what's the point? If you've been following along with these reviews, (like you should) you'd know that already as he's the only one left that isn't the truck. Then again I just did say that... Oh well. He's almost entirely metallic burgundy (not unlike Generations Thrust really) with black wheels. A speckled black adorns the windows, silver on the wheel hubs like everyone in this team except T-Bone, and a little bit of gunmetal in front of the windshield and on the back bumper. (there's a tiny bit of red for the taillights, too) The key part of the car's deco is a gold stripe running off-center along the length of the car to the left, with a thin silver stripe running through it off-center to the left. This stripe has to cross 5 or 6 pieces and is interrupted by the windshield, and yet it carries over from front to back perfectly. That is impressive! For features in this mode...do I really need to cover this? Fine. He rolls. And the halves of his gun peg in underneath, quite securely I might add. That's it.

Bah-wheep Granaaaagh not covering size comparison in vehicle mode, go check Car Crash and T-Bone's review-weep ni ni bong.

A subliminal message within a universal greeting. Go figure. Let's get to robot mode.

In robot mode, we get acquainted with a new color: grey. A darker grey is used in the arms, so I suppose that makes two new colors... He's got a very boxy head with a gold face, wheels on his shoulders, and the general colors of G1 Dead End, but that's pretty much where the homage ends and where Last Chance goes off on his own. That depresses the former greatly, I'm sure. He's pretty solid in this mode, but while the front of the car has grooves under the front bumper that correspond to tabs on the pelvis, they don't actually tab there that well at all. Then again, that would lock up his waist articulation if they did, so why would you want it to? Out of all four cars, Last Chance is probably the easiest. No mods required to not feel like you're going to break him, and there's not much that seems like it'd be a concern if handled incorrectly, but his arms can be a little tricky getting into position the first time. And it's not so easy getting the feet past the tabs that lock them and the legs in for vehicle mode. I love how the head slides up and then his chest slides back beneath it to keep it from sliding back in. It's a clever way of avoiding another Down Force. It needs to be facing forward before the front of the car can be folded up or down, so keep that in mind.

Articulation time again! 22 points, just like Down Force, including the ability to shrug his shoulders, again like Down Force. Really the only difference in the joint set up is Last Chance is the only one who's wrists are just swivels, not ball joints. And his knees work much better even with the side panels folded in like the instructions ask. The front of the car draping over his chest doesn't get in the way at all, though it will stick out at the bottom more the farther the waist is turned. The gun can actually store in a specific spot, plugging in to a tab on his back that is used for nothing else. Weirdly, only one side of the slot on the rear piece actually stays in place when trying to plug it on. The other side just doesn't hold, yet holds fine for attaching onto the underside of the car mode. The front part has the slot intentionally blocked off on one side, so they only plug in one way under the car. He can almost reach behind himself to holster/draw his gun, but falls just short of being able to do so. Sad, but not the end of the world.

Since I said I would do a size comparison for the robot modes with Last Chance, here's your last chance to get a look at the comparison between the cars and other figures that aren't the truck. Get it? Last Chance? Last chance? *is shot*

Prime Knock Out and RTS Windcharger, just to prove these guys aren't the size of Scouts. (actually, they're slightly bigger than Explorer/Munitioner and roughly the same height as the Causality ninja bugs and their Deluxe Insecticon homage TFSource holiday exclusive holiday three pack bundle repaints/retools) Now that we're clear on that...

Last Chance may actually have ended up being my favorite of the cars along with Car Crash. He's a delight to mess with, he doesn't feel like I need to be particularly careful with him, I haven't really needed to modify him, he happily goes into whatever pose I want him in pretty much. However, he's still $60. Once again, if he were $40 or $50 I would recommend him all day long 24/7 without hesitation. As it is, he's just as slightly overpriced as the other three cars, and with other third party offerings including those from FansProject and official Hasbro/TakaraTomy offerings out there including an upcoming TRU exclusive Masterpiece Sunstorm (oh how those who bought the eHobby version must surely be biting their nails now) and Prowl all vying for your buck...I must merely mildly recommend him.

But we still could turn this around. How? When we use these guys to BUILD GIANT ROBOT! of course! We''l be getting to that soon...

Nice Review DB! This figure (while awesome) feels like the G1 holdover of the bunch. From the blocky frame from head-to-toe, to the hands, the shoulder kibble and the feet... But I still like him, and I agree with wishing these were priced around $50.
