Who Remember's the 90's?

TRANSFORMERS had nothing to do with my life at all until near the end of the decade....
Although I always had a small collection on a shelf in my room at all times.

The 90's were my high point in life. I did so many things. Some things I did make me wonder HOW I'm still alive. But here I am to remenince and share my views of a decade not too long ago but long enough. So many changes have occured since then.
I had no cell phone
I had no computers
I remember my fist CD player. It was a big stereo that also had a dual cassette deck. Since all of my music collection was on cassettes.
My very first CD was AC/DC Highway To Hell. I still have that very same disc to this day.
I can't remember when I got my first DVD player. Or my very first DVD but I'm sure it was probably a porn.
I had a HUGE magazine porn collection. I had a feeling my mother was getting close to finding them so I buried them in the forest.

I never got involved in any 90s TV series other than Beavis and Butt-Head.
From time to time I would catch the Simpsons or Married With Children.
I was busy smokin weed, drinkin, and getting laid all the time.
There was always a party somewhere so not much time for TV

I remember a few times running from the police.. on bicycles was fun.

The decade didn't start out very well at all... 1990, my appendix bursted.
I layed in bed for 3 days before my mother demanded and literally dragged me to go to the hospital.
If not for her decision, I would have died probably on the 4th day.
I was in the hospital for a week after the immediate surgery.
They had to cut me open and move all my insides back into place.
I had a HUGE cut that resembles a "C section" as well as 3 smaller cuts they did to insert hoses and drain poison out of me.
I got the scars and they still bother me to this day.

I was and still am a huge music lover and the 1990s introduced me to the "Seattle Sound" with bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and many more. They played a style of music that i was able to relate to in so many ways and that style is still one of my favorites to listen to.

We lived in a cabin far far far away from any town. The river was right there so in the summer time it was perfect. But in the winter time it was a bitch.
I had to ride a school bus for over 1hour every day to get to school. Once I got there, I would meet up with my friends and go hang out all day long.
We would go to the beach, or someones house, or just out for a drive. The drive ended up with us mooning people and taking baseball bats to mailboxes. Then I would catch the bus and take the long ride home. That is how I spent most of my senior year. I was suprised I was able to graduate. But back then, the schools just pushed you through.

I watched Beavis and Butt-Head religiously as much as I could.
I met the friends that would become a family and I still hang out with to this very day.
I graduated high school in 1993 at the age of 17.
At 18 I landed my first REAL job at a window factory making windows.
Then wrecking my car, I had to depend on a ride to work.... who was always late.
That costed me my job.
Not to mention I was addicted to caffine pills. They really got me going fast when I would mix a bunch of them with a giant sized MT. DEW and tons of coffee. The "Great Cornholio" had nothing on me.

After working a few random jobs and a point in my life when I was homeless living with my sister, I was able to save up enough to rent an apartment for myself my brother and my mother.
1996 I landed a job that helped me grow into the man I am today.
I became a home builder and still am to this day. I guess, if you are good at it, stick with it.

I met my wife and her 2 kids in 1997 my daughter was born in 2001 (but that's for another decade to talk about sometime later)
We struggled through a lot and became the couple that love to hate each other LOL!!

During the 90s I was introduced to many video game consoles
Super Nintendo
Nintendo 64
Nintendo Gamecube
Playstation
Playstation 2
,,, I had them all. .. still got most of them.

Bill Clinton was president. The only political thing we worried about was when he was gonna get the next blow job.
Honestly, I don't think any of us citizens gave 2 shits if he was getting bjs or not.

As I mentioned, after the mid 80's when TF's fell off the TV world, I paid no attention to them anymore. I always kept my small collection in view on a shelf somewhere but that was it. Then BEAST WARS came on and my stepson was into them big time. I started collecting them for HIM. Once R.I.D. came around, I thought it was cool that they were all vehicles again like they were when I was a child. I bought almost every character from that series for my stepson. Unfortunatly, he never shared the same love for them as I did. He found his own interests and I accepted that.

My first concert I attended was at the state fair and I seen STEVE MILLER BAND.
Also in the 90s I seen Aerosmith, Megadeth, Metallica, Peter Frampton, Foreigner, Weird Al Yankovic and a few others.

The 90s also gave me my worst year of my life. I believe it was 1995.
My mother ended up in the hospital with her usual cancer issues but this time they kept her.
She battled cancer from 1978-2001. She was the closest person to me and seeing her so ill nearly destroyed me.
She nearly died in 95 and had to go through many many months of recovery. She lost all of her weight and became real fragile.
Even to the point of having to learn to walk again was a huge trial for her.
During this time I was on a rebel binge. I had a 1976 Chevy Nova and I was taking a girl to a party. Going down the road SOBER... and actually doing the speed limit, I hit loose gravel on a sharp turn and smashed into a deep farmers ditch. I was unconsious as my head went through the drivers door window....passenger was able to excape unharmed and get help.
My car was destroyed. And as I mentioned before, losing my car also resulted in losing my job.
WORST YEAR EVER.

But I survived. My mother survived for 6 more years.
I was able to get another job. Something I was better at.
I was able to get another car.
I guess I had to go through those troubled times to make me a stronger man. I literally went through hell.
I had my family and my closest friends to help pull me through those times.
One also realizes who is a true real friend during those kind of times also.

We all must endure trials in life. Its what makes us who we are.
When we live through our own personal hell and are able to share it with the world, we are successful.
All in all... the 90s were my favorite decade.
I did a lot of fun stuff. A lot of stupid stuff and a lot of bad stuff.
I changed from a boy into a man during that decade.(physically and mentally)
More physically than anything though LOL!!

I can write an entire book about my life in the 90s. But I'm gonna cut this thread short before you all go cross-eyed on the fact that I made such a long post which is usually something I don't do. Thanks for reading... and please share your thoughts and your memories of the glorious nasty 1990's

Excellent post and it brings back memories of my own experiences throughout the '90s. I'll follow up with an in-depth reply soon when I have to time to reflect and gather my thoughts better. Again excellent post and thanks for sharing, 'bro!
 

90s, huh, I don't recall much of it, I think most of it was spent in education, a lot of good that did me, hell, I think once you mastered reading and writing, your pretty much set for life, but then again, I never liked school much, to many rules, espaically my last one! Anyway, I wasn't into TF as much as I am now, well in fact it was largely out of my mind, sure Beast Wars was around but until I saw an ep of it, I thought it was some knock off rubbish, what clued me to the fact it was TF, was the use of the names Optimus and Megatron! So the 90s were mostly a dull time for me, but then I was still growing up and stuff, which did include one of the most important lessons I learned, never trust anyone 100%!

That reminds me of another favorite thing in the 90s

I learned to drive farm equipment in 1994 at 12 years old
I still had a hankering for Britains farm toys that never really left me from being a small child right up to this day some 25 years on from my first memories of them and Universal Hobbies wasn't really heard of back then
I left school in 1997, the best day of my life at that time I thought.

For me the 1990s was a time of carefree joy and fun. Nothing seemed to matter and the world did seem a somewhat friendlier place to live. I got my first job in a dairy and on the farm. learned a lot about the operation of farm machinery from a professional tractor driver who everyone called "old Pete". I learned to drive a car in 1999 (passing the test in 2000) I took part in the three peaks fell race in 1998 and came 10th out of 65. Sadly thought, the 90s were not without their incidents for me. My grandfather, who I was close to, passed away in November of 1997. I was hospitalised in April of that same year after a horrific accident with a tractor. Thankfully I kept my leg, but it was a close run thing.

The 90s is when my (original) Collection of Britains started to grow. Of the ones I bought back then, only four are still with me now, The Fendt 615LSA, The Ford 5610, the Powerfarm Fertiliser spreader and the Massey Ferguson 362. The rest ended up having to be sold due to personal problems in 2008, but I have started to rebuild.
