MSN/Windows Live Messenger Retires
This may be new for some but not for others. MSN messenger/Windows Live Messenger is officially retiring sometime in the first quarter of 2013. It is being merged with Skype, which is owned by Microsoft. If you do not have Skype, I recommend getting it so that you can stay in communication with online friends and family. The merging process is relatively simple.
Download and install latest version of Skype which would be Skype 6.0
Launch Skype and logout your existing Skype account (if any).
Sign in using your Microsoft Account (Messenger, Hotmail, or Outlook.com).
Then, sign in your existing Skype account by clicking “I have a Skype account”. That will merge your Windows Live Messenger contacts with your existing Skype account.
You would be able to see all of your contacts by clicking 'all'. The other options are Skype, Messenger, Online, and Facebook. Login into your Skype using your Facebook account and your Facebook contacts are converged into it.
Now there is no telling at this point in time if people would be able to play the online games on Skype like they did on Windows Live Messenger. Or the customizable emoticons could be done on Skype.

Re: MSN/Windows Live Messenger Retires
I try to stay off Facebook as much as possible...lol. I'd chat on Skype, though, just might not have the emoticons.
Re: MSN/Windows Live Messenger Retires
But Galvy, I thought you liked all my emoticons?
Hmm might have to look at Skype then.

Re: MSN/Windows Live Messenger Retires
The Daleks are a villainous race from the planet Skaro, in the long running BBC series-Doctor Who.
And they have their own chatbox smiley on Facebook.
Try it for yourself, type in the code below, into your FB chatbox
