Beast Hunters Voyager Optimus Prime
A couple of months ago, I had said I would review this bad boy. Well, now I'm getting off my lazy butt and doing it. He's not show accurate, as it seems the line mostly =/= the show sadly, but how does it stand on its own? We're going to find out so others can decide for themselves.
Starting in vehicle mode, Optimus completely ditches the imposing yet still realistic long nose truck mode for a terrifying, dragon slaying flat nose truck of deadly...'justice'. Red, blue, silver, and black plastic, and some silver and yellow paint for your colors, along with...translucent green? So he's hopped up on Snyth-En? Actually, that's kind of awesome. He's not screwing around, he's after both Megatron and Predaking's faces - oh, wait. Wrong Optimus Prime. For accessories, he comes with a translucent green Star Saber with a painted gunmetal hilt that can peg onto the roof of the truck, and a pair of 'Ionic Pulse Launchers' that attach to the sides. They each fire a missile, and the prongs on the sides of the launchers can swing out like a crossbow. Why? I have no idea. I also have no idea why the side windows are painted yellow. The roof on mine doesn't want to peg into his arms in vehicle mode. I can push the pegs in, but they'll come right back out slowly a minute later. The side bits however peg in securely. The wheels are the clip in variety, and he usually rolls well enough. Except if the spike bits in the front get pulled out of place slightly, since they attach over the spot the front wheels do. The feet and hands are totally visible in the back, by the way. I'm not bugged by it, but others might. Thus, I mention it.
Oh yeah, a pic of the vehicle mode.
And a comparison. With First Edition Voyager Optimus.
A little shorter in length, but slightly wider.
Transformation is very simple, yet clever in how the tabs for the shoulders were hiding in plain sight as the side view mirrors the whole time. As for the robot mode...
Animated Optimus and Cybertron Optimus thrown into a blender and made even more dangerous. Yes, he's got wings for flight, and his Ionic Pulse Launchers can peg into the sides in the back to give him the boost. The Star Saber can store on his back in this mode - you don't really have to take it off during transformation. The wings can be folded away if you don't like them. The head sculpt is mouthplateless and snarling. He wants to mount Predacon heads on his mantle something fierce. As for a size comparison, we once again use First Edition Voyager Optimus.
Beast Hunters Optimus is ever so slightly taller, but also much bulkier looking. However, he's very hollow inside his limbs, thus is lighter than he looks like he should be. It can be fixed by sticking these strange, copper coins in his lower legs, ( I think they're called pennies) if one is so inclined to give some heft to him. The hips may need tightening after to compensate for the added weight. As for articulation, he's got about 20 points of it. Enough to do something like, oh I don't know, this:
That's pretty cool right there.
So overall, do I recommend this toy? Yes, but not without being mindful of some of his downsides. Still, he marks a return to the size of the older Voyagers, and is fun in his own right, but he doesn't have the power (he's not He-Man, you know) to dethrone First Edition Voyager Optimus as the definitive Optimus Prime from Transformers Prime.

Excellent review! Not sold on him personally. Looks like an alright toy, just has too much going on in the paint apps dept.. I do like his star saber sword, though! And I've have to go with the "wings down" approach, something about those wings just doesn't do it for me.

More like not enough going on, amirite? Seriously. There's not a lot to his colors. Next one I'm planning on reviewing most are skipping in favor of his bigger counterpart coming out - Predaking.

Cool review. Still not sure if he can pass for Cybertronian in alt mode.

That's because Ramjet's sponsored by Coke! It would be a breach of contract for him to own anything Pepsi.
