I want my Hostess back!
No more twinkies. No more Ding Dongs. No more Cup Cakes! Unless you want to pay $25 for a box of Twinkies on ebay.
Re: I want my Hostess back!
Obama will bail them out. They're too bid to fail and Americans are to big to not eat Twinkies.
Re: I want my Hostess back!
They'll sell the recipe to someone else eventually if they do close down for good. Wouldn't worry too much. Twinkies and Zingers aren't going anywhere...lol
Re: I want my Hostess back!
Welcome to my world! If I decided to buy some twinkies from the import shop over here (the only way to get them) they would cost me around £8 ~ $13 for six.
Hope you get to keep your Zingers, Ding Dongs, Twinkies etc.

Re: I want my Hostess back!
Sorry I meant in the shops, I am sure it would have been cheaper for you to pop to your local then for me to buy them from mine.

Re: I want my Hostess back!
Twinkie ingrediants:
Cakes
2 cups (250g) of flour
1 1/2 cups (300g) of sugar
...
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup (120 ml) of vegetable oil
3/4 cup (180 ml) of cold water
2 teaspoons of vanilla
7 egg yolks
7 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar
Filling
6 tablespoons (50g) of flour (rounded)
1 1/2 cups (340g) of butter & Crisco mixture
1 1/2 cups (300g) of sugar
1 cup (240 ml) of cold milk (scant)
2 teaspoons of vanilla
STEPS
Cake
1
Get a large bowl and combine the sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Create a hole in the middle (like a well). Then add the egg yolks, water, oil, and vanilla. Mix everything together until you get a smooth mixture. Put the bowl on the side.
2
Get another bowl and mix the cream of tartar with the egg whites. Beat them together until you get a stiff peak.
3
Take the egg yolk mixture and pour it into the first mixture you made. Mix everything until all the ingredients are well combined.
4
Pour the final mixture in a 10 x 14 pan; don't need to grease it. Place it in the oven at 350ºF/180ºC for about 45 to 50 minutes.
5
Let the cake cool on the side. Turn the pan upside down as you get it out and then take the edges off with a knife.
6
Carefully cut the cake horizontally to get two layers.
Filling
1
Get a bowl and mix the sugar, flour, and butter together. Beat for five minutes on a high speed and slowly mix in the vanilla and milk.
2
Continue beating everything together for another five minutes.
3
Take the filling mixture and spread it on the two cake layers.
4
Cut the cake into small squares (about 3 x 1 inches). Wrap the individual pieces in Saran wrap.
or Instead of cutting the cakes horizontally just get a pastry filling tool and put three holes in the bottom of the cake and fill

Re: I want my Hostess back!
I bet those people that were paying $25 a box on e-bay feel a bit ill now (and not just because they have eaten them).

Re: I want my Hostess back!
Those people on Ebay bidding on twinkies and ding-dongs are fu-king idiots! If the company did go under the recipe would have been sold off to the nearest competitor. All this Hostess talk has me in the mood to go raid the convenience store. It's been a while since I've had a Zinger...
Re: I want my Hostess back!
Hostess, their recipes and overall IP are for sale right now. Several prospective merchants have their bids in on it. And it will only be a matter of time before your favorite treats return. Maybe in a different wrapper under a different name. But hopefully the new owners will have the common sense and clarity of mind not to tamper with the recipe.
Re: I want my Hostess back!
And hopefully, the new owners give the Twinkies justice. Otherwise, a lot of people would be very upset.

Re: I want my Hostess back!
i see no reason for them to destroy the original recipe.
It would be worse than anything us Decepticons have ever done to this aweful planet.
Not a bad idea actually now that i think about it.
