The restoring thread
Those of you who have known me since the old TFL days may remember that I restored a vintage tractor, a David Brown 990 Selectamatic, and did a reasonable job of it.
Now Im going one step further and two or three tractor sizes bigger.
I boughted a David Brown 1210 last spring (2014) and now restoration work is underway.
This tractor has not been running for the last few years and after a lot of fucking about, i just shoved it into the building with a 30 ton bulldozer (nothing, but nothing, do I do by halves )
As rescued from the field on 21st June 2014 having been left outside and not started for about 2 years
it spent the winter under a (pointless) sheet in the bossmans yard
Then last week the major engine rebuild was begun .....
The engine was seized solid so it was totally stripped out and new pistons fitted before rebuilding began.
the pic above shows it during the rebuild at a point I realised that the hydraulic pump was fuckwhipped
so up to now, the tractor cost £450 GBP to buy and Ive spent about £700 GBP on parts and a full week on the rebuild
Saturday is the moment of truth ..... The big startup, it will go one of three ways, it will either blow to bits when I turn the key, just constantly wind over or it will start up ...
I will post a video of said moment however it goes ......

Bulldozer, huh? Just how much did you have to pay Bonecrusher to move it for you? And how much more did you have to pay to convince him not to leave it barely recognizable as a tractor?

Outstanding! Good work Dirge, good work indeed, now all you need is a transformation cog.

All he needs is the emigma combination so that you get a Dirge who doubles as a tractor!

Oh well, you could try having a skating ring using the oil instead of ice!

Re: The restoring thread
Useless fuckin power steering.
The column is actually sound, the problem is with the oil lines and pump.
Wondering about converting it to manual steering to make the job easier

Maybe it makes the job easier but trust me, your driving will be harder :) better to repair it :)
Those old weedwackers are a pain to steer without power steering.
