strontius 75 a new old guy
Hi guys im new to all this but my interest in Transformers goes all the way back to issue one of the Marvel UK comic, had them all loved em then my mom chucked them all out lol. Then of course there was the Movie which blew me away although i was sad to see many of my fav bots killed off. i kind of gave up after G2 when the figures went day glow and just felt cheap :/
had a few G1 toys as a kid Redalert, Hotrod, Smokescreen and Soundwave and the cassettes.
thinking of picking up a few G1 re-issues and maybe a masterpiece or two.
hoping to find out more about the collecting side of things, cheers Ian.

Welcome to the Lair, Strontius! We're glad you're here!
Most all of us here are "old school" G1'ers from back in the day. I have a love for the comics myself but only have the G1 US versions, an excellent storyline though, especially after Furman came aboard. My G1 toys I had as a kid were given away (sadly), but I managed to put together a full run in no-time at all and if there's any help or advice you might need when it comes to collecting or about the forum in general, just ask! And you can't go wrong with Masterpiece. Between that and 3rd party that's where I'm focusing my personal collection mostly these days.

welcome to the Lair. You are more than welcome to add input of anything and feel free to ask any questions. If you want to know anything about collecting TF's you found the right place. We are all collectors and will give you any honest advice you desire.
If you plan on going after MP's I suggest the Hasbro version of MP Soundwave with his cassettes.
He is one of the best MP's. And as Sixshot mentioned above, 3rd party (not Takara or Hasbro created) figures are a bit pricy but well worth the cost. My only 3rd party figures consist of Quakewave (MP version of G1 Shockwave) and Terminus Hexatron (MP version of G1 Sixshot).
MP 10 Optimus Prime would be the best version of Prime to get. Although he's a bit expencive. I'm still on the hunt for that guy. I do have the MP Optimus Prime (20th Anniversary). He's huge and sturdy! MP Megatron is has it's bad points but is a well designed figure. His bad points consist of a heavy arm cannon that makes him lean, he's a pain the ass to transform, and his chrome stains to a "Cosmic" rustic color.

, collecting is like Pringles, once you pop, you can't stop, thou TF has a dark side of collecting, which is the third party figures that some of us have gotten, example, me, I got three full third party combiners, plus a few stand alone figures, thou the bulk of my raid on the dark side, is accessories to enhance or improve figures!
Anyway, again, feel free to look around and comment on things, we might be a bit of a odd bunch, but we're friendly and we don't bite, maybe Six when he hungry and in wolf mode!
