MP 03 Grimlock (Hasbro)

I finally was able to get one. Only available at Toys R Us, I arrived at the store just a few minutes before it opened it's doors. There were people already standing outside. Looking around at the people, I can tell I had some competition. Once the doors opened, we all funnel in the store and everybody went straight for the Transformers aisle. I knew I had to be deceptive, so I took a short cut and was able to grab the 3rd MP Grimlock leaving only 1 more available. The person behind me grabbed the last one. Since the store only had 4 on the shelf, they all sold out within a matter of seconds.

So here he is in all his glory.... THE MIGHTY KING GRIMLOCK!!!!


oddly enough, Grimlock was facing backwards in the box.


This version of Grimlock comes with a gold crown, gun  and sword. Push a button on his right shoulder and his right hand lights up any weapon that he is holding.


You can choose between red or blue eyes. I like the blue eyes.


One problem I have is getting his upper torso to connect to his back for robot mode. It seems the tabs could of been a little bit bigger for a tighter grip.


This pose makes me hear the rumbling roar of the T-rex from Jurassic Park
In dino mode, you can move the tail side to side to make his head turn back and forth. I'm not much into this "kibble". It makes the tail end pieces feel loose and not secure for dino mode.
Also in dino mode, you can open the mouth,  then push a button on his cheek and the mouth will close.

Again, for dino mode, you can change his eye color.


He scales great with all the Masterpiece figures, but just a bit short for being a dinobot. Although you can get the foot boosters with the 3rd party dinobot Scoria.

Helluva find, Galvy! And you were lucky to beat out the scalpers/collectors as well. Congrats on getting Grimy! Now, I just gotta ask who's next?

Grimlock, is nice, thou I'm not big upon the light up feature in his arm because it takes away from the figure a little because I like the idea of some of the larger figures having hands that can open and close, thus far, the best hands I've seen on official TFs is Primus's articulated fingers that can go straight, straighter than Metroplex's! Anyway, nice score Galvy, you earned yourself the king of Dinobots!   

The boosters only help him in comparison to MP-10 Prime. Not the behemoth lead-weight that is MP-01 and...MP Megatron. (minus the lead-weight) And the correct term you're looking for is "gimmick", not "kibble". Kibble is the stuff that hangs off from the other mode, usually the unwelcome stuff like AoE Notvatron's everything.  

Not a bad review! I may have to do one of these provided my contact (Cass) can secure one for me. And I believe one for herself.
