IDW Transformers Regeneration One
Here is a press release back in December, sounds pretty good.
Transformers #80.5
Simon Furman (w); Andrew Wildman (p), Stephen Baskerville (i); Wildman ©
The
wait is over--after a 20-year hiatus, IDW proudly returns to the
original TRANSFORMERS comic book universe, picking up right where 1991's
TRANSFORMERS #80 left off! Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Kup, Hot Rod and
all your favorite Generation One TRANSFORMERS characters charge into the
future as fan-favorite writer Simon Furman and legendary Transformers
artist Andrew Wildman present TRANSFORMERS #80.5! Reflecting back on the
dizzying highs and the terrifying lows of the original run of
Transformers comics, Optimus Prime watches over a Cybertron that hasn't
faced Megatron for decades. But that peace shudders to an end, as we
dive headlong into July's TRANSFORMERS #81!
Because the Fans demanded it! Thousands of TRANSFORMERS fans signed petitions urging us to make this book--and IDW listened!

Re: IDW Transformers Regeneration One
I painstakingly tracked down all 80 original (US) issues of the original run. And I can't wait for these to be released. So glad Furman and Wildman are on board together once again.
Re: IDW Transformers Regeneration One
Thou today/yesterday I picked up issue 86 of this, I found I lacked 85, so that's been ordered from Ebay but in general, from what I read so far, its interesting and the art style, is clearly a mix of 80s and todays standard, but that gives it a charm of sorts, thou the idea of Megatron demolishing most of the Earth because he bored, is a great idea in my view!

So far, I am enjoying this series. Just like SuperOmegaPrime indicated, the artwork has a mix feel of retro with the modern style. However, the writing definitely as a more of an 1980s style.

Pre-ordered and paid for Issue #87 yesterday. Loving the cover art on this one!
Re: IDW Transformers Regeneration One
I will more than likely get the digital version when it comes out.

Digital, its not the same as having the comic in hand, I prefer to have my comics in hand, I can touch and feel the pages, sure you can't zoom in and stuff but, one doesn't need to! Anyways, I'll get the next couple of issues of TF next time I go out to town shopping for them and I don't worry because they been put back for me in the shop I buy them in!

True but the paper comics take up a lot of space. The bookshelves that hold Shade's and Havoc's comics are giving out due to the weight. Currently, most of my comics are in a digital format.

True, Mine are stored in plastic crates or a carrier bag of the shop I've bought most of them from! Its a case of both have their pros and their cons!

Re: IDW Transformers Regeneration One
I have all the original G1 Marvel run (US). Issues #1-#80 (VF+) stored flat and stacked inside a glass display cabinet. All bagged and boarded of course. So it only made sense for me to continue the series once it was announced. Even though I've only read up to issue #27 or so...I'll make it through them all eventually. My wife laughs at me when I'm reading a comic as I'm very meticulous and won't eat, drink, smoke or even turn the page all the way over as I'm afraid to damage the spine...when I'm handling one.
When I went after the G.I. Joe (ARAH) Marvel series, I decided to go the TPB route, as finding 80 issues of Transformers in VF+ shape or better was hard enough. You can only imagine trying to find 155 issues of G.I. Joe in that shape or better.

Re: IDW Transformers Regeneration One
I never collected the 80s G1 US comics, only as TP or HB which took me a little while for the UK realises, thou I need to collect the IDW releases of the UK comics because there's been a bunch of collections but no definitive collection of UK marvel run G1 comics!

Re: IDW Transformers Regeneration One
I didn't start collecting the Marvel US run until a couple of years ago. Got lucky and found issues #1-#49 for sale in the same lot for only $99. So that started it all. You won't spend any serious cash on the US run until you get to issues #70-#80 Though, I've seen issues #1 and #5 go for more than average.
EDIT: Here's some pics of my comics and where I keep them. Along with a WFC Soundwave I've since sold off and a RTS Windcharger I've since opened up.

Re: IDW Transformers Regeneration One
Regeneration #87 arrived yesterday. I was sent Cover B instead of Cover A, though. I'll probably just keep it and order Cover A sometime later this month. The story's still the same...that's all that really matters anyways.
Re: IDW Transformers Regeneration One
Regeneration One #88 (Cover A) arrived today. Seller was cool enough to throw in some freebies, like this DC comic bag and and issue of Jim Lee's Wildcats #4...
Re: IDW Transformers Regeneration One
Is it me or does one part of that cover, look a bit like Marvel's issue 4 cover?

*digs out Marvel #4*..., I see no resemblence at all. But I have US Marvel run. The UK art might be different.

Cover A for Issue #90:
Can't wait to get my order in this weekend!

A case of mass shifting it appears....or perspective, however you want to look at it.
Anyways, my issue #90 is on its way! Cover A. And from what I've read Guido Guidi is taking over all of the artwork on this project for the final remaining 10 issues, not just the artwork for Cover B like he has been doing. I've always been a fan of his, but I'm going to miss Andrew Wildman.
Re: IDW Transformers Regeneration One
I expect Andrew will turn up somewhere else in TF comics if he so desires!
