Oh damn, this is a tough one.
TFC Hercules (Devastator) is probably the fave in my collection right now. FansProject Colossus (Bruticus) gets honorable mention. Can't wait for FansProject to release the Stunticons they showed off yesterday, though, that will probably be my fave once it's complete as the Stunticons are my favorite gestalt team.

Yes a very tough choice, so many to choose from. I have always loved G1 Shockwave, so retro and so clunky, but with good articulation and a trigger that was made flat so it didn't look so.... naughty...

mmmm, this is indeed tough, the problem is, I got a lot of TFs I like a lot, but to choose one, is near impossible but I'll do things this way because it pays respect to both factions:

Leader class:
Autobot:
DOTM Jet Wing Optimus (not that trash Hasbro produced and branded the biggest Optimus prime ever)
Cybertron Optimus

Cons:
TFA Megatron
Cybertron Megatron

Ultra class:
TFU Onslaught
RID Megatron (not the TFP Megatron the ordinal)

Voyager:
Autobot Optimus prime: FE (easily the best Voyager toy given to Optimus thus far)

Non Optimus: FE Bulkhead

Cons:
Megatron: TFP RID

Non Megatron: TFA Starscream & DOTM Shockwave

Deluxe class:
Autobot
Optimus prime: Generations/WFC

Non Prime:
FE Arcee

Cons:
Megatron:
Generations/WFC

Non Megatron:
TFP RID Soundwave, Generations/FOC Kickback, FE Starscream and lastly but not least, FE Starscream, I couldn't pin it down to one, those four are some of the best figures made! Also, I'm adding TFP RID Vehicon drone

Cyberverse/scout: TFP Optimus, TFP Megatron, TFP Starscream

Legends class: ROTF Optimus & Jetfire!

Honourable mentions:

MP Grimlock
FOC CC Bruticus
BW TM1 Optimus primal
BW TM1 Megatron

Third party:
FP City Commander armour
FP Protector armour

Other third party of note:
Dr Wu extras for various TFs, their best so far is the swords based upon a concept art of one of the thirteen!

ToyWorlds Hegemon. Nothing else compares when it comes to G1 Megatron homages (aside from the MP line).

I got mine from Kapow toys, he is a great figure, sure he not the best TF ever made but he is one of the greatest ones, if he turns up in TFP, I hope he gets a equally awesome figure in the voyager class range or better!

He might just turn up in TF: Prime, "Beast Hunters"....he'd sure fit the theme. But Has/Tak would be hard pressed to give us a better looking/engineered toy. FOC Grimlock is just about as close to perfection as they come.....especially in 'bot mode.

His Dino mode could use some improvements, such as having better legs that don't go into his torso and lock there! I mean, so far, for non MP toys, we had four Grimlocks, thou one is so rare that its hard to get, which is Energon! What I'm getting at, if they took the best ideas from Classics, TFA and FOC and rolled into one, we should have a Grimlock that is closest to perfection as any beast toy will get! What I mean is, with classics, the Dino mode is beautiful with plenty of articulation, its only bug as such, would be the holder for Grimlock's gun in Dino mode or robot mode storage, if they could achieve something like that, would be good! From TFA, I would take the arms general design on the body and legs, from FOC, I would take the body and the Robot mode arms, because I like the arms on FOC better than TFA's, TFA is good design somewhat, its his arms for robot mode, that are flawed! IF you can get what I'm saying and picture it in your minds, you'll understand how I would like to see a potential future Grimlock, of course, I would ensure that he gets a sword, if I was the designer, but non of this powerzier rubbish, honestly, the best one of those weapons that I've seen is Ultra Magnus's because it can lock into place!

Sorry for the rant, I think, I'm pretty Passionate about Grimlock, mostly because of his appearance in G1 movie, how he comes across as, well a Bozo, thou, he'll say, he no Bozo, he king! hehehe

Grimlock's personality is right up there with Starscream as my favorites all time (G1 versions). Each because they were so myopic in their character flaws/traits and fleshed out so well. I'll stick with the FOC version for now, as I don't collect (or can afford) MP's, I just need to find a rifle for him and he'll be the perfect "Classics" fill in for me.

I got the MP Grimlock from Hasbro and he pretty cool, could do without the glowing light feature in his arm thou, mine currently stood in robot mode, holding his gun, sword and wearing his crown of leadership!

I do like the simple ingenuity of the Universe 2.0 Sunstreaker and Sideswipe toys. Such a simple method, to make the same mold different.

ROTF Swipe's another one I hold in high regard, though I find it funny that Swerve looks more like Sideswipe, than Sideswipe looks like Sideswipe.

ROTF Sideswipe, Deluxe is a ok toy, same goes for DOTM, but with the FOC Sideswipe, honestly, the only thing going for him, is his gun, the figure doesn't feel like Sideswipe, mainly the head sculpt! The best Sideswipe, is the TFU mould in my view and how he and Sunstreaker were done, is clever and pretty smart, just minor changes between the two figures!

Trouble is, that is a club toy and frankly, its expensive to join that club for little reward, I just wish they would release the comics in TP form to the general public!

I hate club/convention exclusives, but then I'm still pissed that FOC Bruticus' in game colouration was an exclusive.

I'm glad I got the comic con Bruticus, sure he cost a bomb but he is pretty nice to look at! At least we don't have to worry about Metroplex being a CC exclusive, thou I expect maybe some point down the line, that toy will get a repaint as Metrotrain, I think that's his name, the evil version of Metroplex!

The only con exclusives (SDCC + FunPub) I've ever felt forced to buy were the G.I. Joe exclusives...only because some of the most iconic characters of all time (ie: Sgt. Slaughter, Zarana, Jinx, Footloose, Dial Tone, exc....) were only released in their modern form through that avenue.

It's not like Transformers where there are 3rd party manufacturers beating the door down to give fans what they want. Joe fans have Hasbro only in the same breath that MOTU fans only have Matty-Mattels Figure Subscription Service to get the updated figures they want.
