FansProject Retro-Future: Glacialord
Remember the hints of an ice age themed combiner long ago? Like that '20000 B.C.' teaser in the back of Protector's instructions? Well FansProject has started to unearth their idea from the reverse time capsule they shoved it in. Meet FansProject's Retro-Future line. Intentionally G1 'Scramble City' styled combiner figures, with blatant vintage nods and subtle modern engineering and sensibilities worked in. Peaugh shows off Fangro while Vangelus demonstrates Tailclub. The packaging is intentionally painted up to look old and scuffed, with Styrofoam inserts and half of the stickers already applied. These aren't available as of yet, but are said to be about $30 apiece.

Re: FansProject Retro-Future: Glacialord
Damn, had written these off as I noticed them in passing interest, both back in 2009 and here recently. But after watching Peaughs and Vange1us' reviews.....*sigh*.....I now want them. I have 9 G1 combiners in my collection (all of them except Monstructor) and this set would go perfect with that aesthetic. The only thing missing is a fiction to sell me on the characters. Any word on a comic series to go with this set, DB?
Re: FansProject Retro-Future: Glacialord
No word yet, but the teaser for them features VERY G1 styled 'screen captures', as seen here. The instructions themselves are in the old G1 style, so no comic with them there...

Easy pass for me, much as I like Combiners, I don't own a complete G1 combiner and don't really have an interest in collecting one, because of the limitations of the figures, I like figures that can do real poses which are useful when making comics!

I'll probably be passing on this set. Only so many branches on the money tree...

There's a money tree, where, I want to rob it!
