The first G-1 memory Empty The first G-1 memory

Post by Galvatron Mon Jun 29, 2009 5:04 am

My first Generation One memory is when my mother bought me a little yellow volkswagon car.
I was bout 9 years old and had no idea what it was.
I seen the transforming instructions on the back of the card.
I ripped the card to shreds as I got to the little yellow vehicle and transformed my first transformer for the first time.

I said to my mother "Look mom, it's like having 2 toys in 1!!!"

Can't really remember my first, but I remember getting Jazz and couldn't figure out how to transform him. Dad did it and I said "Cool! Now turn him back!!!" Dad said "No, you gotta learn how to do it."

My first G1 transformer was Megatron. I wore that toy smooth out! Never broke it but it wouldn't lock into place in either mode by the time I gave him away...My first G1 memory was watching MTMTE on Saturday morning.

I remember my first memory of my little brother getting all those cool transformers, I told him to take care of them because they will be a collectable, and he actually listened to me, he has probably 100 transformers now. Keep collecting kiddo.

I don't know why I remember this, but my first honest to goodness G-1 memory takes place in Eckerd Drug.

No, I wasn't taking anything. ;)

anyhoo...mom was getting a prescription filled, and I made a bee line for the toy section. I was looking for some new Go-Bots, and since they didn't have any, I wound up thumbing through the coloring books and saw one entitled "Let's Meet The Transformers" or some such.

I remember opening the book, and just inside were drawings of the Autobot and Decepticon symbols. After thumbing through it and finding that the Autobots were good, I remember thinking why in the world wouldn't a group of robots called "Decepticons" not have the symbol with the frowny face on it? Shouldn't bad guys have the unhappy looking face?

Anyhoo...I felt it bore more looking into, so after I begged my mother to buy me one of those lousy Tootsie Toy Go-Bots bubble guns, I went home and started pestering my brother about Transformers.

Kind of a lame memory, but it was the first. :)

So you had to settle for Transformers, eh? Too bad. I still need like 3 colors of those bubble blowers! :)

I wish I had held onto those darn Go-Bots! I had two big shoeboxes full of them at one time. They went the way of gasoline and a package of firecrackers.

I am just grateful to Transformers and some of the other things I was into back then (and now). It's funny how inanimate objects can make you feel so good, and bring back such great memories!
