Yeah hopefully it means she have better chances of recovering. Of course it's not fun for an 11 year old, or for you, her family for that matter, but at least she has a good chance to be well. I send my best wishes, and hope you will have a good christmas despite the hard times.

Update time for those that dont have the misses on Facebook. Arieal will need 3 surgeries within the year. one to fix the bladder reflux. one for an at home dyalis (one that they insert a pouch and we hook her up to at night to filter the fluid.) and then the kidney transplants start. but before we start those we have detected a speed up in her heart rhythm for no reason, and have to get her in better health. She spends most of her school day at the nurses office while in school and the nurse feels she not healthy enough for school. the kidney specialist disagrees. Its hard to sort out which is actually symptoms and which are not. she already had ptsd so this has set it off even more.

I have nothing good to say about the school system.
Put her in home school. She can get one on one teaching online for free. And it's probably the best thing for her with her condition. She can stay out of that nasty nurses office. And she won't have other kids looking at her funny.

New update.

Arieals kidneys took a nose dive this month. Went from 20% down to 13%. So now we go back in 2 weeks to see what kind of dyalis she can have since they haven't got a urinoligist in yet to fix the bladder reflux. We are hoping for the at home one that they put a filter around around the kidneys to help filter. That has a 20 pound machine we hook to a tube that is comming out of her side. The other one will be more trips to the doctors to hook her up to a machine to filter her blood 3 or 4 times a week.
This all means now we are looking at transplant in a few months not next year. We also found out that more than likely we have to wait for a donner kidney from an outside source. Ie...another kid who is brain dead........ we are all having a hard time with this idea.

I recently found out that my ol man goes in for dialis 3-4 times a week for blood transfusion also. He's all messed up.

All we can do for your little girl is pray constantly.
A doner would not be bad. It's a tough issue to think about. But it can help save a life without destroying another life.

Keep your heads up. Give best wishes from the Lair to your family.

We try. I know that a the way it will be donated will be tough to accept.

i know the thought is hard to take ben, but if the donor child is brain dead, that child is already lost but has given your child a chance to survive

we know and accept it. still a hard pill to swallow ya know

We can all understand that, just remember that we are all here to support you and the family the best we can.

Dude. In all honesty. I would give up my kidney for that child if it werent messed up already.

well its been a while guys so i will do a fast update.

surgery for the at home dialysis is this fri. her kidneys are going down hill and this is the date that gives her enough time to recover before her birthday and school. we have her room almost set up just need a few more things and to scub it a bit better. Christine and our neighbor are having a benefit/birthday bash aug 6th here. so that is all till after fri when we find out how the surgery goes...

I ask anybody with whatever kind of faith they have, pray, meditate or whatever you do on Friday. Do it for Ariel and her family.

Ariel and all your family will be in my thoughts come Friday, Ben. I am hoping that all goes as well as it can in this situation for her, and that she makes a speedy recovery so that she can enjoy her birthday.

she had her surgery this morning. surgery went very good no surprises. she is supper sore when she moves and is having a hard time keeping things down so she is back on iv so she dont get dehydrated. still no surprises or anything too hairy. the target day for her to come home is monday or tuesday.

It is good to hear that all has gone well so far, hopefully she will be home with her family soon.

Today she is keeping food down. Yesterday she wasn't.
She's moving around more and not taking anymore pain medication.
She hates taking the pills. They are starting the dialisis tonight. We will let you know how that goes.
