2009 Revenge Of The Fallen
I thought the movie was amazing!
I like it way more than the first movie!
I'm going to be watching it as much as I can until the DVD comes out!
Although, I've read a lot of complaints about the "ball / nuts" jokes.
There were a bit much, especially since I took my daughters to the movies :|

I enjoyed the movie too, but I share the sentiments on the dangling participles too. (Also the dogs) I loved the first movie, and I loved the second too, I know I'll definitely be buying ROTF, but seeing it once in the theatre did satisfied me until the DVD release. This movie was a different species of animal, that's for sure, and full of plot holes.
I was disappointed that Arcee was not one big bot, but three split off ones, and I had made up my mind to hate the C-7 Corvette, but fell in love with it despite myself. Wish they had called him Tracks (He acted lke Tracks) but you can't have it all.
The neighborhood kids had he resounding opinion that the second movie was better, in that there was no so much conversation taking place to interfere with the plot, with plenty of fire, explosions, and mayhem. ;)
Anyway, all in all, loved it, not knocking it a bit, I'm just glad they made another one!

Re: 2009 Revenge Of The Fallen
i liked it, but it did have issues.
bad
1.Devastator...having balls, and being weak enough for stupid humans to destroy.....whats up with that?
2.dogs humping....and now robots?
3.Alice...and her purpose was?????
4.Not enough action or bad assness from The Fallen.....
5.The quick defeat of the Fallen...too fast
6.Megatrons voice was way too weak sounding, he didn't have the demanding authority sound behind it like it should of been.
Good
1.the battle between optimus and megatron...AWSOME!!! and Megs WON that one, though he should of completed the task and ripped out Optimus' spark, then he would of had no way of coming back, at least not so easily.
2.the Fallens cool anti gravity power...AWSOME
3.Jetfire...funny as hell!!! and to give the ultimate sacrifice in order to defeat the Fallen, a very noble and unselfish thing to do...very Autobot of him
4.Megatron & Starscream...VERY G1, LOVED IT!!!!!
5.Sam grew up a bit more in this one
6.Wheelie (wheels)...even if he was dispiced as much as blurr in g1, I loved him in ROTF....though that one scene could of been left out

Re: 2009 Revenge Of The Fallen
I watched it just once at theatre and now I'll wait for the DVD version.I'll have to watch it again to understand better some things...
Anyway, after several days from vision,I think that is a good movie for battles and a big presence of the robots, but at the moment,I'd still prefer the first one .....
Some positive things of ROTF are(in no order) :
1)Wheelie;a lot of people seem to hate it ,but honestly I found him very nice ;Skywarp, for me his attitude, scenes in the box and phrases were very funny but that scene, yes,it should have been left out,for the children .
2)Constructicons that save Megatron.... :lol!:
3)a lot of battles
4)Soundwave;his presence as spy in the space suits well, and when I heard his Italian voice I instantly thought that dubber was great at emulate Welker's voice..then ..I found that Frank himself dubbed also Italian version (TFWiki confirms!),this explains everything :woohoo: !
5)Jetfire is really old...but I liked him...
6)Starscream and Megatron in g1 style situations :)
For bad things...
I didn't like those "details" about Devastator  and he should have played a more long and important role in battles.
Then I didn't like very much the fact that Megatron took orders....
Dogs had absolutely no sense and were disturbing...
College sensual scenes were more appropriate to some movies of that genre instead that a movie that also(or maybe especially...) children watch,it was a little exaggeratd...
Then, the Fallen should have been just a little stronger opponent for Prime ...
Anywat these are my ideas from just one vision and you disagree ,there is absolutely no problem :) ,there is a lot also to say for this movie...

Re: 2009 Revenge Of The Fallen
The more I've thought about the movie, the more disappointed I get. My main complaints...
I find myself comparing it to the "Jurassic Park" sequels. In "Jurassic Park", the dinos were treated with reverence, respect and a sense of wonder. In the sequels, there was no more awe, they were just movie monsters. In the first Transformers, while we didn't see as much of the robots as I'd have liked, they were treated with a sense of awe. I feel like that awe was abandoned for ROTF. The Transformers were just window dressing, many of the 'Cons were now just movie monsters. Respect was gone too as many of the characters that received appreciable screen time were laughably ridiculous.
I also think that introducing The Fallen in this movie really hurt Megatron's character. Megs didn't get all that much to do in the first film, being frozen for the majority of the running time. This movie was his chance to be a real bad *** and show us what an evil creature he was. But with The Fallen in there too, I think Megs lost a bit in comparison. The Fallen was now the supreme bad *** and Megatron is left to pale a bit in his shadow. I think The Fallen might have been fine to introduce in a third or later film after we'd had a chance to see evil Megs in action. Megs would have had a chance to shine and then The Fallen could have been introduced as even more of a bad ***.
While I don't have a problem with Prime being resurrected, why couldn't they have waited until the third film to do so? The second film would have been so much better with a cliffhanger ending and Prime dead.
Here's hoping the third film is better in comparison (and that the twins die a horrible death early in the movie).

Re: 2009 Revenge Of The Fallen
Hi Shrapnel, I agree with you on all accounts, very nice summary of the movie!Shrapnel wrote:The more I've thought about the movie, the more disappointed I get. My main complaints...
I'll elaborate a bit on my personal views :)
I could've lived with the plotholes and stupid characters had ROTF retained the 'grandeour' if you will of the Transformers.
The thing is, the first movie was gradually buillt up with glimpses of them, Bumblebee resquing Sam&Michaela from Barricade, him signalling to the others to come, their superb arrival on earth, and of course the final unweiling of all the Autobots in the backalley.
In the movie, the Transformers were ultimate fighting machines; Blackout took down an entire military base on his own, and Brawl stood his ground against 'bots and humans alone for a long time before he was taken down.
There is awe, there's despair, there is tension: 'how will the heroes ever take down these machines?'
This sort of thing simply doesn't happen in ROTF. Demolishor, though he appears to be 10-20 times bigger than Optimus, is taken down within a minute. I realize he's supposed to be just a dumb brute, but c'mon.
Then there's Bumblebee... He handles both Ravage and Rampage AT THE SAME TIME? And of course the skinning of Ravage is done in slo-mo for a full gory vew of the kill.
Sideswipe takes down Sideways with one slash of his blade.
Optimus fight Grindor, Starscream and Megatron all at once, kills Grindor, again in upclose and gory fashion, incapasitates Starscream and almost has Megatron?? Is this the same Optimus that couldn't take Megatron in the first movie?
Seriously, I felt for the Decepticons... In all of Transformers history they've had the upper hand, bigger guns, better alt modes, they're more fighters than the Autobots are, and the bots have to outsmart them to win. In ROTF it's the other way around, the bots seem to be on steroids, and pity the Decepticon that crosses their path...
About Megatron, yeah he's clearly a weaker character in ROTF... Movie Megatron was a vile and evil monster, hellbent on getting the Allspark from Sam and the bots.
With immortal lines such as:
'Is it fear or courage that compels you fleshling?'
'Give me the allspark and you may live to be my pet...!'
make him a fearsome, vivid character.
I don't remember any of his lines in ROTF.
About the Fallen, well enough said, I still can't understand why they needed another master villain. It just cheapens and complicates things. That he looked like an alien/predator hybrid didn't help.
Last two things I want to comment on is Alice the pretender and the Decepticon 'hatchery'.
They both add a kindof 'living organism' thing to the table, that I really don't like. Alice was unneccesary to begin with, but to boot they make her into this shapeshifter, part organic part machine thing...
All the time she was on the screen I got flashbacks to Species.
And since when does Transformers make hatchlings that need to grow into mature Transformers??
The whole clone decepticon issue put me off. This sort of stuff belongs in 'Aliens', not a Transformers movie.
I'm hoping the third movie will be heaps better too, and we probably will get one, what with all the boxoffice records ROT has been making.

Totally!
While I wasn't too terribly bothered by the concept of Alice, I do agree that there was really no point to her being in the movie. Those scenes added nothing (but I guess they were better than more dog copulation).

Re: 2009 Revenge Of The Fallen
The presence of Alice was unnecessary, for me she was created in order to show that Decepticons are scheming and had understood that a robot disguised as a young and attractive girl is very good in some situations/tasks during their war on Earth...and was a good way also to show another sexy girl next to Megan Fox.
To Galvatron:I can comprehend your situation with your little daughters;honestly I've appreciated these scenes ,similar to some of the classic college movies :woohoo: but Transformers wasn't the place where show them.

That Alice scene was worse than "SAM'S SPECIAL PRIVATE TIME" scene in TF-1  :suspect:

And now, so am I...
Anyhow, what did the pretender do? If I remember correctly, there was a 2minute conversation between Sam and Michaela, all the while the pretender was busting up a library?
She was not that smart was she, that Alice? And I for one was very happy to see her crushed soon after.
Apparently this was a very expensive and demanding character/scene to make; way to make priorities Bay!
(He apparently declined to have Sideswipe a red Lambo; it's too difficult to film red, so he chose a nondescript GM design instead. Yay.)
