Music Stories
I went to an auction today and got a box of vinyl records for only $10
I take the box home and find a bunch of old old vinyl 45's and 78's
Mostly stuff I don't listen to.
But in the stack of normal sized LP's, i found Steppenwolf, Abbott & Costello (Who's On First)
A Johnny Cash album I've been looking for and is out of print.
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Sonny & Cher
Michael Jackson - Thriller / mint condition, the wife took that one. :barf:
A few Elvis Presley albums including "Pure Gold" 1975 SEALED!!!

Re: Music Stories
I went to a vinyl record shop looking for the Starbuck album "Moonlight Feels Right" when I was out of work, and the man in back rumbled through the junk in the box behind him and dragged out a dead fresh from a time machine back from 1976 mint jacket/cover for the album, and the record was inside. He said "Lady, I can't sell this piece of BEEP and if you like that crappy song so much, you can have this."
He gave me the record, I thanked him, and as I was pulling away, he ran out to the car with a 45 in a plain paper jacket and said, "You can have this piece of BEEP too, while you're at it, I'm tired of lookin' at it!" And it was the single for Moonlight Feels Right.
The B side really does suck, it's a song called "Lash LaRue". It kind of takes Starbuck back to it's country fusion days as The Atlanta Rhythm Section but still it's pretty bad.
Anyhoo, I got something I had been wanting for years for absolutely nothing, and it re-affirmed my belief in the inherent goodness of my fellow man.
Grateful, a couple of days later, I left him two dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts with his employees and a thank you note that said "I hope you enjoy this BEEP, Thanks a bunch for the records, The Starbuck lady" ;)

Re: Music Stories
I burned a bunch of my Aunt's ARS records. I got them on my external HD still.
I'm desperatly looking for some Cash records without going to e-bay.
LURE OF THE GRAND CANYON
THE MAN IN BLACK (1971)
A THING CALLED LOVE
ANY OLD WIND THAT BLOWS
JOHNNY CASH & HIS WOMAN
THE LAST GUNFIGHTER BALLAD
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOU AGAIN
THE ADVENTURES OF JOHNNY CASH
RETURN TO THE PROMISED LAND (only 2000 copies made)
to get these would complete my JC collection except all the stuff he did as a guest on other artists songs, wich i already have most of.

Re: Music Stories
Damn you guys! I'll make a list and head to the record store. They have some great stuff there. CJ, I personally wouldn't pay more than $10 anyway. Maybe $15 if it was still sealed. They sold like a bazillion of those albums, there's plenty around.
Re: Music Stories

Re: Music Stories
Anyone else have a list? Maybe put on there a decent price to pay, since I won't know what a lot of stuff is worth.
Re: Music Stories
good news from wiki....
On January 1, 2010, Cornell alluded to a Soundgarden reunion via his Twitter, writing: "The 12-year break is over and school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!" The message linked to a website that features a picture of the group performing live and a place for fans to enter their e-mail address to get updates on the reunion. Entering that information unlocks an archival video for the song "Get on the Snake," from Soundgarden's second studio album, 1989's Louder Than Love. The press has speculated that the band would be headlining festivals such as Lollapalooza, and the Reading & Leeds Festivals in the UK, although no official confirmation has been issued by the band. On March 1, 2010, Soundgarden announced to the people who signed their e-mail subscribers that they are re-releasing an old single "Hunted Down" with the song "Nothing to Say" on a 7" vinyl released on April 17th only at Record Store Day. Also, they released "Spoonman" live at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego, CA from 1996. This song is available for download on Soundgarden's homepage.
Rumors that Soundgarden could headline Lollapalooza were confirmed on April 5, 2010. The band announced on their website that they will play on August 8.
It is reported that the band has been rehearsing in Seattle in recent weeks as a precursor to their first confirmed reunion performance at Lollapalooza.
On April 15, 2010, it was announced that Soundgarden would play its first show since 1997 the following day at the Showbox at the Market in the band's hometown of Seattle. On April 16, an email went out to random Soundgardenworld.com newsletter subscribers with a link to purchase tickets. The show was billed under the pseudonym 'Nudedragons', an anagram for Soundgarden. Tickets sold out in just 15 minutes In addition, a contest was posted on the Soundgarden twitter page, giving one fan a chance to win a ticket to the show.
The band played an hour-and-a-half-plus long set comprised of the following songs: Spoonman, Gun, Searching with My Good Eye Closed, Rusty Cage, Beyond the Wheel, Flower, Ugly Truth, Hunted Down, Nothing to Say, Loud Love, Blow Up the Outside World, Pretty Noose, Outshined, Slaves and Bulldozers, Get on the Snake, Big Dumb Sex, and a cover of The Doors' "Waiting for the Sun".

Re: Music Stories
i seen ZZ TOP!!!
The concert was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. The 3 members rocked out and played all their famous hits (and more!!). The concert lasted almost 2 hours. They may be up high in the age, but they still rock like they were in their 20's. Even a tribute song to the great Jimi Hendrix. Which i did not know but Hendrix is basically the founder of ZZ Top. He heard them and took them on tour with him back in the 60's. Thus creating the beginning of the biggest little band from Texas.
syncronized dance moves...
long beards...
great music....
fuzzy guitars...
great show
and a t-shirt!!
Salem Oregon Billy Gibbons quote: "We've been playing for over 4 decades. Same 3 guys, same 3 chords"

Re: Music Stories
Seen Hollywood Undead last night in Portland.
They kicked ass!!
Roseland Theatre is a small place in downtown Portland Oregon. The place was packed!!
After driving around in circles on 1 way streets, we finally find a parking spot... We all get out and piss on a brick wall.,.. Then walk about 4 blocks to the concert. The street was all bars. Every kind of bar you can think of was on this street. stripper bars, gay bars, drag bars, straight bars, I think I even heard a donkey. Once we got to the Theatre, we see a dude on the other side of a fence trying to get a tour bus door to shut and lock. We stop and talk to him for a bit. Come to find out it's one of the Hollywood Undead members. It was cool to chat with him for a bit while he fucked around with the tour bus door.
Got in to the theatre just as the 1st opening act was finishing up. They actually jammed. The 2nd opening act was another 1 rap singer, 1 scream singer bands. They weren't too bad.
By the time Hollywood Undead hit the stage, we were up on the 2nd level (it had the bar). We all were and .
Songs like "Undead" and "Been To Hell" played and I the crowd went insane!! I thought the balcony we were on was going to collapse. Being such a small building the pyro smoke was overwelming.
Hollywood Undead members are known for wearing masks... after the 2nd/3rd song, the masks all came off.
They even let a little kid get up on stage and sing a song with them. That was the coolest thing! That kid will remember that for the rest of his life.
I took some pics with my phone but they didn't turn out very well. I'm not even gonna bother posting them.
After the show, we all head out back to the car. My buddy's sister was so drunk she could hardly walk. We had 4 blocks to go. Then she decided she had to take a piss. So we try a bar. Nope, damn security won't let her in because she's already too intoxicated. Try another bar... nope... another bar... .nope... another bar (with donkey sounds) even wouldn't let her in. We find a Pizza parlor / bar with no security at the door and finally get in so she can piss. Then all of us had to piss. The pizza smelled so good and i was drunk enough to be hungry so I bought some slices and another beer. They even let my 17 year old son in there.
Somehow we find our way to the car and eventually made our way home. Good thing the driver only had 2 rum & cokes and wasn't drunk.
BTW... my neck hurts

.....Awesome.Sounds like good times! Hollywood Undead has always jammed and I bet they carry a lot of energy with their shows, too. Shit, I gotta make it to Oregon so we can hang out sometime, maybe hit up that donkey bar. I'll buy the animal feed and bring my camcorder..
