Nope, he's based on a cybertron landmine figure actually.

where do you get the patience for such great work Dez?
How do you get the paint to NOT peel or scratch when transforming the moving parts?

I apply very thin coats of paint to joints when I need to. {High pigment content paint is best. Or enamel, whichever you can get easiest. Alternatively you can sandpaper/file the places that rub just enough for the paint to remain there when that part is moved.} (the exception being tyr. who's base figure had very loose joints, the thin coat of hardwearing paint I used there makes the joints very tight.]
Now for a custom combiner that has been on the backburner for a while now. [until I just finished coating the combiner parts today that is]

Re: Customising: The Art Of Making Something Good... Better.
Well....here's my latest custom figure:
Decepticon Diaclone Marlboor Wheeljack! (With alittle help from two fellow transformers fans!)
I went from pictures of a real one. Found a picture of the original sticker sheet and found a girl who did a a great job in reproducing the sticker sheet from it. They are water slide decals and they are awesome!
Also found a guy who custom made the blue transparent canopy, wings and new head mold! He did a great job!
And I did the repainting of the figure myself! Here's the pics:

Dark Future Dagor and Pariah. [in a unique twist Pariah is the drone who is controlled by the minicon Dagor.]

Dagor in laptop mode being operated by Pariah

Yes Ramjet. I found a guy from another transformers fan site that makes the head mold. It's pretty cool looking!
